CB750 K3 Removing Kick Starter Shaft
« on: January 19, 2015, 08:28:00 PM »
Any ideas on how to remove the roll pin which secures the Kick Starter Shaft into the lower crankcase on a CB750 K3
Purchased a motor and im disassembling it, all is going well but I cannot get the pin out of the kick starter shaft so I can remove it from the bottom engine case, it doesn't go through the kick starter shaft but it passes in front of it with out this pin remove it looks like the kickstarter shaft cannot been removed.
The pin is a bit rusty not to bad I have put some WD40 on it and will put some heat on it also a bit later, just thought I would throw this out there to see if anyone has any ideas, don't want to damage the pin if I can help it.

Leverage a pair of side cutter pliers against the case, grab the pin, and carefully lever(pry) the pin straight up in steps. Protect the edge of the case at the leverage point of the pliers. Just did this today and it worked well, tho  I didn't have a corroded pin.

I just kept repeating heat/penetrating lube until it started moving. I know it's a pain because there is not much to grab. I grabbed top of it with needle nose pliers and tried to use twisting motion.
