I ordered new Michelins for it. I'm dropping the wheels off tomorrow at my local mom and pop bike shop.  It would be a good time to turn and drill rotors and service the drive unit.

I reread my posts, it's come a long way from almost being parted out to being my long distance rider.

Don ,  I got a chance to ride a 1994 Goldwing Trike today.  Talk about comfort and a smooth ride ;) 8).  The owner bought it for 1500$- not a misprint :o  No title but he managed to get one, and only 38K in excellent condition

Cool Larry, that was a smoking deal. Bud needs one of those, the 76 wing's getting too heavy for him
He asked about the 400F, I'd like to see him on it. He's been tipped over on the 750 and his wing too many times, he scares me.  Inseam challenged too.

Well I got the tires swapped and did the water pump job too, The honda manual stinks when it comes to the water pump job. I realized I needed the oil seal and o rings after taking it apart. Service Honda took a week, they must have been out of something. I got the pump, front gasket and o rings from Ebay.

FYI. If you ever do one, bolt up the lower hose fitting before adding coolant. It's way less messy.

I bought a cheapo 14mm master cylinder from Ebay. It comes with a rebuild kit. not sure if that's good or bad. I'll give it a thorough test before venturing into traffic.

We rode a couple hundred miles today, a nice break in for a big trip to S. Dakota. I'm going to have to clean the carbs. Low speed jets are worse. New fuel filter, I want to replace the turn signal beeper, add a load bulb to the neutral light so it will work, pull the fairing and clean up some more wires, change the oil and fork oil. The seat still sucks, my asz isn't getting used to it, it tilts to the front and I slide forward  with my weight supported all the way back.
It got a name. El Cheapo Goldwingo.

I hope to, I'll be staying at the koa near mt Rushmore. I have an ex brother in law there all summer so I haven't decided on an exact date.
I took the carbs off the 79 wing, it's got 82 or 83 carbs on it. They appear clean inside which is good and bad. I was hoping to clear a pilot jet and make it all good.

Well the carbs are clean and on with new flushed fuel line and filter. It still chugs when cold, with the air filter off it's louder, I'm pretty sure it's an intake valve hanging open just enough for some compression to blow back. It's intermittent and only when it's cold. I can't feel it in the plenum so I'm still not positive which cylinder it is.

After some run time it seems better, I lost a chunk of left muffler L0L! I filled it with propoxy we'll see if it holds a while. Test ride today.

No, I'll check it out. We went drag racing last week so I've been busy. We got beat first round both days. Arg. I bought 2 sportster mufflers for it tonight $50 like new.

I found the source of the chug, kickback & miss. One of the plug caps wouldn't fire on it's turn but somehow fired on the wasted spark. I got rained on and the water killed the offender off so I could ohm out the defect. Finally. The local shop had 3 caps so I replaced the 2 on that coil and left the other 2 that tested OK. One spare in the saddlebag.

Nice to hear it was a simple fix and not diving into the carbs again.

Well, it chugged a couple times so I didn't fix it after all, It's good after it warms up so I loaded it for Sturgis and took off to the bank on a test run. I made it to the first stop sign (two blocks) when it died totally, It blew the main 30 amp fuse at the solenoid. I got out my test light, found the problem, hot wired it, didn't burn it down and rode to Advance auto, I put a 30 amp max blade fuse on it like I've seen done before. The strip fuse was corroded and the screws were rusted so I assume it was just toasted from age and abuse.

I went to Sturgis early, will miss the goldwing guys but had an awesome time. I stayed with my brother in law I haven't seen for 5 years and rode with a group of friends when we were there. I drove out and back solo 864 miles each way straight through. The bike was a dream except the seat was an awful POS. I finally took it apart, shaved off the lump in the middle, made a flat area and made it level so I didn't slide into the gas talk all day. Then bought a sheep skin pad and threw it on top. It was a large improvement. Never again on a junk seat.
We rode to Mt. Rushmore, Iron mountain and Needles it was worth it, the wing ran 85 mph for hours on end without complaint I did blow out a muffler last night but the  Pro Poxy'ed holes stayed plugged.
