ProTeal55 - what does that exhaust wrap stuff do? Keep heat off/out of the engine better?

Exhaust wrap keeps the heat IN the pipe, where it belongs.
The more heat gets pushed THRU the exhaust, the more efficient the motor runs (supposedly)
Mainly I did it for the cool factor. Their are tons of topics about headerwrap on this board.
Do a search , you will be amazed...

By the way Pro, I really like the aesthetics of your bike - we kinda have a similar look going on (wish I had some of your mechanical mods though, like those dual front discs!) You have to love that black and silver combination . . .

Thanks for the kind words. The bike is making great progress, as the major things are now done, so I am focusing on fixing some loose ends.

Pro: Excuse my lack of knowledge here, but what is that tank thingy in place of the right side rear panel?  For oil, I assume, but why?  for a bigger overall capacity? (hope I'm not having a blonde moment. . . )

Just wondering because I thought oil tanks were only on two stroke bikes or something. . .

750's have oil tanks....500's don't.

Oh, OK. . .  .is it just for extra capacity then? I mean, its not like consuming the oil or anything, right?   lol - can't believe I never noticed that before on my friends CB750 (must be a blonde streak kicking in - at least Im not a natural blonde. .  he he)

Its not just for extra capacity, 750's are a dry sump motor.  I get asked that very question a lot from my sportbike friends, they keep wanting to ride the 2 stroke bike I have

I found my paint choice, John Deere Blitz Black.  Its $30 a gallon and tough as nails.  Excuse the photos, I was in low light and cant take a frigging good pic to save my life.  Also this was the tack coat, I have the parts hanging up right now.

please tell me about that seat.

I used a stock 76750F seat pan, and cut 9 inches out of the middle.  A liberal application of welding and grinding.....voila.  I even used the stock cowl in the rear.  I can take some closeups if you need.

anyone ever mess with paintin the spokes blac and leavin the ring chrome?  I can get new spokes but cna find anyone to lace them... was thinkin of paintin them black.

Black spokes with a chrome wheel would look cool (I think).
I am gonna spraybomb my wheels tonite black while they are on the bike, and then just
sand the spokes clean. Allot easier then taking them off the bike - cutting out the spokes - having them powdercoated - etc...
