1973 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport

Next in line after the 400F.  My dad was the original owner.
1975 CB400F waking from hibernation. 458cc, YRS hot street cam, Kerker.  
1973 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport.  Still hibernating.

Geez it looks very good. I knew a guy had a burgundy 74 when it was new. , have not seen many of them.. Thanks for putting the pics up..

 I can't stop looking at the darn bike, 3rd time in looking at it, in an hour.....lol..

I bought a 750 from a guy once who was not really into them but liked BMW etc. Had some nice stuff. He asked if I wanted to see another bike so he took me inside and when he removed a blanket he had a minty low mileage Guzzi like that parked in his dining room.  Said he constantly kept it covered so no chance of sun fade etc.  He LOVED that bike.

This was burgundy when he bought it, but my dad was one for customizing his bikes.

Great looking bike. How's it run/handle?
It hasn't been started in over a decade.  I sprayed some WD40 into the cylinders about 5 years ago.  It's been covered up in the garage.

Yes its a great looking bike.  Interesting that it has a shaft drive but no front disk!

The Ambassador is featured on the Jan 15 cover of Motorcycle Classics, also has a pic beside a V7 inside the mag, post up a pic of yours too.  Would love to see it.

I know what you mean Danny! I would love to have my dad's New Imperial 500cc that he rode in the late 40's early 50's.....but you just never see any for sale.

Yoshi, you have got one ripper of a bike for your next one. It is a very collectable one, I'd imagine here in Australia you would not get much change from 20grand if you wanted to buy a good one.Those older guzzi's are so reliable and they are also really good to work on. You can replace pistons,cylinders,even big end bearings with the engine still in the frame.

 Check for chrome bores. These are not like Hondas. The cylinders were chrome lined. Prone to flaking and can wreck the rest of the motor. Very nice bike. I will dig up a pic of my Ambo.

Yep, the V7 sport is a nice looking bike, if a 1000 would fit in there it would be even better... ;D 8)

All it needs are proper disc brakes, and a set of Lafranconi mufflers, and she'll sound and stop like a Guzzi should!

DON'T START IT if it still has the Chrome bore cylinders.

Search for "chrome bore" on guzzitech.com, and also wildguzzi.com for more info.

These bikes, and all the Guzzi's of the late 60's and early 70's (maybe later, I'm not sure) originally had chrome-plated cylinder bores.
These starts to flake off when it get's old.    The flakes end up trashing the oil pump, which results in a trashed engine.

If it has the chrome bore cylinders, get the Gilardoni nikasil replacements:
