Greetings all
« on: January 25, 2015, 12:25:06 PM »
Hi there.  My name is Kevin.  I live in Texas now - but I grew up in southern California where I spent most every weekend riding in the Santa Monica Mountains.  I bought my first 750 in 1972 when I was 17.  It was a brand new K2 in Sunrise Flake Orange.  Rode the bike for a couple of years and replaced it in 1974 with a Freedom Green K4.

In the summer of 1974 I rode the K4 around North America - from LA to British Columbia - across Canada to Toronto - down to Cape Cod - then down the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway - down to New Orleans - then down to Mexico City and back to LA.  It was 13K miles in 6 weeks - what a great adventure.

In 1977 my K4 got stolen from the parking lot at UCLA. It was uninsured and I was broke - so I replaced it with a used Candy Ruby Red K1.  The bike had 10K miles on it at the time - and now it's got around 60K miles. For several years in the early 1980's we would ride length of Baja over Christmas vacation.  We would leave LA - take Highway 1 down to Cabo - cross the gulf on a ferry - and come back up the mainland.  After 37 years, I still have that bike in the garage (along with a couple of other more recent acquisitions).

Over the years I've clocked about 100K miles on CB750's - but I was never much of a mechanic.  While I could do a basic service - that was about it. With the help of this forum (and YouTube) - I cleaned and rebuilt the carbs on my K1 (which had been sitting for about 15 years).  Needless to say, I was ecstatic when the bike actually fired up and ran.  More recently, I rebuilt the front brake - so the bike now stops (which is always a good thing).

The knowledge base on this forum is a fantastic resource - and I hope I can contribute in some small way.  Thanks for sharing your expertise!

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
