yeah i have read that the 500 trannys weren't as strong as the 550s. I have a 550 cylinder that I picked for $25 thats in good shape. My thought was rather than spend $75 re-ringing the motor I could spend $250-$300 and end up with 100 more cc's. I was planning on just using the stock head but matching up the intake and cleaning up the casting flaws. Also plan on putting a different cam in it I haven't decided on just a cb650's or buying a WebCam 358b. Maybe Ill research some more about the 500 tranny fixes.
