What is your biggest pet peeve about your bike?

Mine is easy - the carbs!  The are not stock.  They are '78s on a '72 CB750 and they are terrible.  Stay away from these dogs.

I didn't know that was a common Cb issue, I never heard a clutch rattle.  Glad that Bob added it.  Thanks Bob.

Part of me wants to say brakes, not because of any perceived lack of power, but because I was/am constantly fiddling with them and adjusting them to get them "right".  The beauty of disc brakes is that they are self-adjusting.  Except the Honda discs, which require periodic adjustment.   ::)

However, I am a 400 Four owner so I had to put cam chain noise.  don't give me crap about 400/4 "charm" as it applies to the cam chain noise.  I don't like riding places and having my engine sound like there's an envelope full of change is rustling around inside it.

My brakes give me the biggest headache, going from Ton to zero, while weighing a Ton, kinda sucks with first gen. discs.

most wiring problems can be solved with a new wiring harness

carb problems can be solved by letting anyone other than myself work on them, and by not messing with them.

I can't hear the cam chain @ 8500rpm

I have a few pet peeves with my 750....low center of gravity, lack of space for wider rear tire, lack of optional forks that bolt right up without welding a new new neck in,.....I could go on & on....BUT.... the engine is bullet proof,it sounds good,it can be made to look good.....Ah hell....I'm keepin' mine!!! ;D

High!!  any higher and they would have to be 3 wheelers.  That leads to a question.  Did they ever make a 3 wheel kit?
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

my peeve is that my 550 isnt fast enough on the highway.here in Toronto driving 140 km per hour is going to slow(no joke).im doing 80 mph and its like im standing still.i guess one other thing is the brakes.but im taking care of that this winter.

carbs, carbs, carbs.  I will ride in December and January (which actually doesn't get under 50 degrees too often) in order to keep the gas from sitting in the carbs to avoid anything gumming up

Clutch rattle has always(for me) been a symptom of lack of syncro in the carbs.  But I've also suffered with wireing and brake issues, so I can't make up my mind.

White, I suspect a head gasket is leaking allowing some glycol into the combustion chamber LOL.

Silly... it's oil of course you can smell it plain as day. My pop said as I got on it and would let off of it she would puff a bit even after it was warmed up. It will be coming apart this winter. Just questioning is it worth it to try and find a K top end and what is the best years of the K models should I go after?

So the smoke is bluish. Is it acually using oil? I would suspect valve guides unless it has a sh1t load of miles......then maybe rings. On the other hand(theres warts), If the smoke is more of a black color.......Too rich mixture......easier to remedy. You could have white smoke but it probably wouldn't last long enough to notice........Do your homework and report back.....

ASE Advanced Level Master Tech.....

Plugs look great, but yes, when I first start it up, it wont smoke hardly at all, but as oil gets up top, within 5 seconds from fire, it will start to smoke (bluish) and smoke for a good 5 mins until warmed up. My guess is that it is guides and/or seals and with how long it smokes, could be rings with it still puffing a bit after it is up to operating temp. It has 16500 miles on it currently, but in either case, I don't know how it was treated by the PO's let alone if any work was ever really done to the bike. It runs like a bat out of hell though. I'm not even going to bother to do a leak down on the bike, it's 30 years old and surely could use a freshening up.

I'm thinking it maybe time for an 836 kit and some cyl head reconditioning. I wonder what the CFM difference is between the K8 head and the F2 head?
