the name of it in english
« on: October 01, 2014, 11:40:37 AM »
Hello all.
I've lost the "part" that goes under the speedo of my CB750 K7 (on the left side in some models) which turns the partial odometer to 000000. I think that it will be difficult to find that part, given that I don't know the name of it in english, even I don't know it in spanish, my own language!
So, if you know the name of it, to start a search, or if you know where to find it, it would be very helpful. Thank you.

Not sure about a K7, but on the F2 (same gauges?) it is a moulded on part. The spigot sticking out of the speedo looks threaded but isn't. If you look closely it's just concentric rings. I found this out when I reconditioned a speedo, went to remove the knob but it wouldn't unscrew. Thinking it was just tight and I could replace it, I cut it off. After trying to screw on a few different knobs the penny dropped.

Am I right in thinking the spigot is missing as well as the knob? Might be a case of finding an old speedo to cannibalise.

Thanks for the responses. I found it at 20 euro, very expensive too.
I don't know about the F2, mine is the one which is screwed on the bottom of the speedo, not on the left side. Mine is not a moulded on plastic piece. I remember when I reassembled the speedo that it had a male thread in which the knob was screwed anti-clock wise.

Gotcha. It is on the side on the F2.

Don't know how they justify those prices for a little piece of plastic. Robbing bastids!

Mine is on the bottom too.  There is a metal shaft that screws in CCW (Counter Clockwise) and the plastic piece holds on it with little positioning screw.  I took it out yesterday to refresh my memory  ;)

Ask Bill Benton, he may have a used one and shipping of a small part like that is not that expensive even over the sea.

Or have one made?
