that ball dosent go on the kickshaft spline it goes inside the pivot on the actual kick arm assembly, the through bolt goes through that spline groove, you dont have to dissemble the assembly to remove it.,if you sort of activate the clutch lever it helps pop the cover off, itll be bound by those hollow dowells fairly firm, use a plastic pry tool between the cases, clean the shaft well and they dont hang up in the hole, old crud binds it up,good job on the video.

You can replace the clutch while the engine is in the frame very easily, just lean the bike over at a steep angle (about 45 degrees) and you don't have to take out the oil or anything like that.  The only thing extra you have to do is remove the rear brake peddle.

Great video, it is something I'm going to be doing soon so very relavant.    Would be nice to see how the clutch lever works, but I'm sure that is obvious when your disassembling it.

Cheers.

Do you tighten the four bolts all the way down and torque it? I can't seem to find that in the manual. In the middle of changing the clutch out.

About those four bolts, keep in mind they are aluminum and will snap very easily.

Great vid I love Youtube How-to vids especially when they regard my exact bike. Looks easy but not ready for a clutch just yet.

Thanks for your video series. Much appreciated, and it can be a big plus for this site. Perhaps there could be a repository for these and other video contributions somewhere on the site. Guys who don't need 'em won't have to see them, but lots of folks, especially those new to the SOHC's, will find them invaluable.

They could go in the FAQ section for now.

just nip them down plus a little by hand, they aint wheel nuts, never torque any 6mm bolts or nuts, you will strip them, only nip plus a little with a strangled wrench any 6mm bolts or nuts, ignore any text book torque settings,in fact right now tear that page off and scrap it.

He brings a very valuable service to us that need help and I really appreciate it. That being said, there's a right way and wrong way to do things. Just like in this thread, there's a bunch of corrections and revisions. I also had an issue with how he lapped valves using a drill, that's just scary. He also didn't lube the stems before lapping them..

I think Dave does very well. Slang is slang hell there are people on this site born in the states that make Dave sound like a English professor. Over here you might hear someone say to choke up on the wrench like you choke up on the bat in baseball.
