CB350F Carb Linkage Straps
« on: December 12, 2018, 07:23:52 PM »
Hello to the wise and experienced,

I'm finishing up a 73 CB350F, and managed to break one of the straps shown in picture.  Has anyone else done this?  What is the purpose?

Just off the top of my head, it looks like Honda intended to keep the linkages parallel, but not much more than that considering the weight of the piece.  Certainly the individual linkages need to move independently to achieve sync.

I'm wondering if I can get away with fabricating something with identical center distance out of a razor blade, perhaps thinner, and escape with an operable bike.

$.02 appreciated.

Seen a lot with those missing and still running, was never available as a part from Honda but i believe somebody in Holland was remanufacturing them. Try asking the question on the UK site i am sure it has come up beffore.

EDIT look up seller gerben(there are some numbers after the name but cant remember them)

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

I have the same issue........haven't really tried getting the bike to run right to really check out.

Once I did get a chance to ride about 10 miles or so, got it back to the garage and hasn't ran since.

I think my problem is I used (from lack of knowledge) the brass out of the rebuild kits.

So they are on the bench now waiting for me to get off my lazy azz and redo them.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.
