Mounting race rep fairing question.
« on: January 30, 2015, 12:44:41 PM »
Hello, I have a build thread going on the projects page, so hope this isn't breaking any rules :-\

Can some of you race guys (gals?) reassure me that two rear mountings are sufficient to hold race bodywork?

Seems it would easy enough to have a couple more mountings coming from the front of the frame somewhere just to be sure?  Making my own anyway so a couple more will be no big deal.  Pics would be great if you have them.

Check out Pete White's RSC replica CR750 parts at:

His fairing mounting kits are very close replicas to the genuine RSC parts.

Nice thread Keith thanks.

DMcD, Is this a 500/550? Can you provide a link to your build thread, I must be blind.  I use the same bracket in the rear & the front is the same idea. My lower fairing is longer underneath (within 3" of the rear wheel) so I use a bracket on one side to stabilize and center the rear. Most use exactly the same brackets as you're planning and that's fine.

This from a distance but you can see the rear bracket plus the short one from the bottom engine hanger bolt.

Cheers, bwaller your pic has helped a lot.  This is a link to my thread, if it doesnt work it is on page 3 called cb550 under the knife. (Butchery  :o)

My fairing is open at the bottom, whereas yours is closed which will give yours extra rigidity.  I will make a couple of extra brackets like yours and investigate joining the lower fairings under the bike.

Thankyou again.

I also added a tab on each lower frame rail, below the crank centerline +-.
