Why can't you guys have this "discussion" while I was awake!? It would have been fun  to chime in.

This is my favorite part. I didn't think people on the Internet still did the old, "Oh yeah!? Well I'll kick your ass in real life, I swear!" routine.

I don't understand why you kept it in 3rd at those revs?

Cause there were turns coming up.

What a bunch of #$%* talking pussies here

Bet you wouldn't be talking #$%* to my face

KiefRichards, I had a hard time following this thread but you need to keep in mind a couple of things. Any naturally aspirated engine will lose up to 5% of its HP for every 1000ft rise in elevation.

So with that said how is your bike tuned. Is it tune for riding at a lower elevation where most of your riding is done? Or is it tuned for 5500 ft and above? You need to make that choice and tune properly. I live at 6700 ft so that is what my bikes are tuned for. When I start hitting 9000 ft I need to start downshifting to keep speed. This is normal. Unless you are tuned for that elevation.

At lower elevations do you have this power issue you think you have? My bikes run like a raped ape and anything lower than 5000 ft.

To answer the title of the thread, is his CB750 underpowered?  I'd say the answer is no, seems to pull hard between 5500-redline.  Is his brain underpowered?  Definitely yes.  Angeles Crest is a great road to ride, only been on it a few times.  More familiar with Mulholland Highway, Highway 33 out of Ojai, and 150 around Lake Casitas up to Santa Barbara.  Similar roads, and if it were me, I'd definitely be doing some upshifting, to keep those revs out of the red zone.  It's okay to rev it up there, but to hold it there without upshifting is just idiotic.  That engine will blow itself up if he keeps abusing it like that.

Dayum!!! I had to shut that off at 3:15! I have blipped up to that rev range before but to let it hang there like that is wrong!!! Other than that....the bike sounded healthy to me. You need to cool er down a peg there Kief. If you like these bikes... you may not wanna lose your respect with this forum (that's up to you). Sometimes people get their feathers ruffled a little but looks like you're the one that needs to chill. If you wanna blow your engine....by all means do it!! Its your bike but when someone points it out to you....no need to get butt hurt about it!

Watch from 2:00 to 3:10 where I'm wide open in 3rd gear at around 5,500 ft elevation.
That's really all she's got...

The quick answer is yes, your 750 is underpowered. As they all are. If you get an R6 you can run that at 14 grand in third gear. That would be cool. ;)

Seems to me the video was a "hey look at me" post rather than asking for help. I enjoyed the video for the most part and figured the bike looked pretty healthy in the first ten seconds of him accelerating. I don't think he needs mechanical help, maybe just a ego tune.

wow,
I don't often reply in threads like these... but
stop being an ass and face the fact that you shouldn't try to ride a 40yo bike like a modern superbike like someone pointed out allready

Offcourse it doesnt run good when you keep it revving like that.

Maybe a 750A would have been the better choice for you ;)

You guys are hilarious!
I posted a vid, mostly as a joke because:

1. I live a sea level, this was 5,500ft, and it's a CB750, of course it's underpowered.
2. There were 50-70mph winds that day, mostly headwinds in this section.
3. I know I was overreving it a little, my bike is well-maintained and I'll ride it however I feel.
4. 9000rpm for 10 seconds will not "blow up the engine"

I wasn't shocked Barney Fife was the first to start talking #$%*, or that everyone jumped on the wagon to call me an idiot; but the
threat, that was a shock.

I posted a vid and some people felt the need to be snarky, and I called them out on being dicks.
Threatening people on the internet IS a pussy thing to do, as I said a few days ago (no one here seems to agree).

While some here are reaching for 20,000+ posts talking #$%* about people who actually ride, I'll be out riding.

Hugs and kisses

Keep doing it and you'll be sorry. Not hating, just stating simple facts. Your valve-train on these bikes is literally being pulled in every direction at that speed.

For the record, I'm not talking #$%* or hating at all. It's just that it wasn't until this reply that things took a turn for the worse.

"Cause there were turns coming up.

I think you may have found it a bit hard to swallow the criticism and took things to heart a bit too much. It's all good man. I would just stop with all the negative replies.

Looked like a fun day my man.

You are delirious. A brain also needs enough air to function properly. Maybe you should ride back towards sea level.

Just watched the video and like many other couldn't watch it for too long. But from what I saw it seemed have plenty of power before the redline, however what I couldn't understand is why there was no gear change at all once getting to third and what seems to be a reliance on engine braking into the corners.
