What are seatpans worth?
« on: February 08, 2015, 02:37:13 PM »
Was trying to deal off a 77/78 K seat today, needs recover,
Very nice pan, had lock plunger and document cover in nice shape.
I am thinking they are not plentiful.

Just asking as I was made an offer that was not even near the street the ballpark. Is on..

Some seat pans might possibly be out there fairly reasonable when you consider most of the old King and Queen seats that do not have much interest were built off the old stock pans.

Worthless to me.  I'd just assume find a seat in good cond rather than having to get foam and then a cover.

The seat has the foam  which is good, and the cover which needs replacing..

i think a good seat pan is worth easy $50-75.  It would be to me.  But then, I have a really good local upholstery/foam guy who is also a friend.

40 year old fart and mold filled foam makes it worth LESS to me. If the cover has been damaged, water has gotten in and found a home in that open cell foam...  It's beyond disgusting to have to remove all that. And then you will certainly find the pan has rusted as well.

I think the hinges, pins, and latch are scarcer and worth more than the pans.   If shipping is involved, there isn't much money left over for a pan to be "worth it".
If it works good, it looks good...

SeanBarney -- actually what you said is what I meant.  the pan AND all the hardware bolted to it, without foam or cover... ez 50-75
