Hi from Switzerland
« on: February 05, 2015, 08:04:01 AM »
Hi everybody,

Reading these forums for years and learning a lot about SOHC-backgrounds, I thought it’s time to register and say hello.

At home in Switzerland/Europe, I bought my 400f in 1986 to get the driver’s licence. A year later, a GpZ 750 came in, but the 400f followed me all over the years – I never gave her away.

The chance to purchase a brand-new exhaust was the start of a full renovation. The bike passed the examination last year without problems and is now registered as an oldtimer. Had a lot of fun driving it last summer, it felt like 30 years ago – same tics but all-in-all very pleasing [I’m talking about the bike].

As an office-monkey, wrenching brings fun in my life. My other bike is also a supersport – 1992 Ducati, the never ending work in progress.

Last word: I’d like to thank everybody here for sharing knowledge, the forum is an incredible source of know-how and know-why. And: please apologize  my poor/pidgin English, I hope to be nevertheless understandable.

Daniel

Rødgrød med fløde  :)

Strynboen, it's the look why I always kept her.
Today, after 23 years with 2-cylinders, I like the 70's racetracksound when I rev her up to 9000. And: I'm afresh some Kind of underdog with 37 HP, ploughing throug fields of 1000ccm tourers with reflective vests...

What a beautiful copy of the 400F you have! That looks brand new, compared to most of the ones I get to work on here.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

Thank you all.
In my early days I didn't even know that you can clean a bike. My wisdom increased over the years. Btw - the machine is tiny enough to fit in a dish-washer - or so..

Sharp eyes!
The 400f was never inported to Switzerland. Till 1984 we had an insurance sistem with horrendous primes for bikes bigger than 250ccm - so people bought either a small 250 or then at least 500 or more.
Dunno who brought that machine in. When I got it it had the higher bars of later models, frontsignals mounted togehter with the headlamp [plus a broken dearhead] and back signals as mentioned.
I don't like tinker so it was clear to order original parts an mount them.

Regards, Daniel
