carb insulators on a 750KO
« on: February 11, 2015, 02:47:19 PM »
I have a '70 cb750KO running a set of carbs from a '71 K1. anybody know if the carb insulators from the '71 will fit the KO heads? I know in ronnies fiche they are listed as different however I cant see why they would be? it must be the same head castings and same carb bodies. other than not being 100% not correct to the year should they still fit? same question for the air box boots as well AND all the clamps? also, some of the clamps are flat and some have a ridge around the band, which one is for the insulators and which ones are for the airbox boots?

thx

ridged clamps go on carb boots, flat clamps go on airbox boots
If it works good, it looks good...

I have just installed a set of non K0 manifolds on my K0. They are thicker than the K0 ones but I didn't have a problem getting the carbs on. It was much easier after I soaked them in very hot water fror awhile. I think they seal better too. Bike runs fine so far with them on. Cliff.

KO intake head spigots are shorter than K1 on, I have measured spigot length and compared to a K5 head.

I run a diecast KO head on my K1 with K1-K6 carb insulators (reproduction parts, not Honda OE). The internal grooves on the insulators meant to seal to the head spigot rib did not align (too deep in the recess). They did seal positively on the K5 head.

The late model insulators can be used but I found they didn't capture the spigots and give a positive seal and mechanical capture.
