Topic: Help Please. . found cb500 Cam chain adjuster not in bottom slot / running motor

I pulled my pan off to clean and discovered the bottom of the cam chain adjuster in not in the bottom case slot. .
How to fix ??
 Looking at the factory manual and pictures,  it looks like it may be possible to leave the head on, pull the cam out and R&R the adjuster ??  or does the head have to come off?
And it was running so good too. .
