1978 cb750 carbs
« on: February 09, 2015, 01:57:13 PM »
The connecting tubes on  my 1978 CB750 carb set are leaking fuel.  I have to disassemble the entire set to replace the o-ring seals.  Any thoughts or advice before I get into this?  It looks like a straight forward procedure but I would appreciate any wisdom that might save me a lot of trouble.

In a way it's actually not straight forward. You need to unscrew all four slides under the caps, the the Allen bolt with hex nut.  Takes pictures of the linkage between 1 and 2 or you will be scratching your head later, it is not intuitive.

Of course you must unscrew from back plate also.  Slide accel pump clamps so you can get them off their nipples too.

Now you can actually move things around.  You will find it takes some dexterity and technique. Things will get in the way, then not line up again.

Oh yeah since you have to unscrew everything, it will unsync them to some degree so you'll have to at least bench sync them after.

Thanks for the pictures. I don't have those. It sounds as if the job is more a pain in the ass than anything else. I have to do it though so I'll start now.
