Securing engine parts
« on: February 10, 2015, 08:05:09 AM »
Hi I have a cb350F that has its engine disassembled and I was wandering if I could get away with putting my engine pieces in a wooden vice. Will a wooden vice deform or brake anything on  my case, cylinder jugs, or head? The vice is built out of steel and has 2" wood blocks to clamp with.

I would think that's fine, I've done it before. I'd just be mindful of the delicate fins on the case. They're aluminum and not strong. Likely to break if you tighten too much or have it cocked in the vice. I wouldn't use oak or anything but pine should be fine.

Maybe someone with more experience can tell me I'm crazy.
