Possible Buchanan's alternative
« on: January 22, 2015, 06:30:58 AM »
Has anyone tried purchasing anything from http://www.central-wheel.co.uk/? Or anyone have experience with Morad rims? I'm looking for a larger aluminum rear rim and spokes for my CB500 K0. Even with shipping to the US, it looks like a Morad rim and stainless spokes are significantly cheaper than Buchanans.

a Morad 18x3.0 40 hole aluminum rim with spokes and shipping totals  £213.33 ($324.12) from them. Buchanan's doesn't have a 3.0 rim. So, a 18x3.5 plus spokes is $404 not including shipping.

Central Wheel is a well-established company in the UK. Never ordered from them myself, but can't recall reading anything negative about them either.

(Probably doesn't help ;D)

Well, this just arrived today:

I ordered this on January 27th. So, about a three week turnaround including custom drilling the spoke hole angles and shipping time. I actually expected it to take a little longer than it did. Everything looks to be good quality. I'll post another update once I have it laced and some rubber mounted.

Upon closer inspection, I received 5 extra spokes (2 inner and 3 outer) and extra nipples with the order. So, that was a nice surprise.

I bought a set of Morad rims from them a year or more ago.
They were easy to deal with and helpful on the phone.
They pre drilled my rims for my CB750 but it is slightly the wrong angle so some spokes have slight bends in them.
I've put plenty of km's on these on bitumen and on dirt with out any problems
