ok don't laugh; How to remove the right controls
« on: February 25, 2015, 03:47:51 PM »
replacing a jacked up right hand control switch

if i read correctly i have to remove the throttle cables from the carbs 1st..

then do i pull them thru the switch or just disconnect them from the throttle tube?

when i unbolt the cables for the switch will the cables fit thru the holes or do i have to pull out of the cable housing?

then reverse order to install right?

remove cables from carbs
push some slack back thru so you an undo at the throttle sleeve.
unscrew the hard lines from the bottom of the switch housing.

In addition, back off the cable adjuster on the "A" cable (pull cable) hardline under the control unit, that'll give you some extra slack to play with.

After disconnecting the inner cables from the throttle pipe, you'll unscrew both hard lines from the bottom of the control unit and the cables will drop out.

Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly ;)

Do you plan on pulling the wiring out of the bars, or are you going to disconnect the wiring from the control unit?  If the latter, be VERY careful as there are a number of wee parts that will fly out and disappear on you.

tks for your help!

the PO went nuts on the wiring and the switch he removed the start button.. i rewired the bike everywhere but the switch which doesn't have the starter button. thats what started this miss as i bought a button and took it apart and all the starter guts are missing so i put it back together..then one day i was riding the bike and when i got home i noticed the light was on so i moved the lever and the bike shut off Zero power nothing works so I'm replacing the switch thinking somethings shorting out..

the only thing is i didn't know that i couldn't use the start button with my key start switch o well...
