Author Topic: What should I get for a Front VENTED Brake Dual Disc CB 750 kit (Read 4182 times)

I am getting ready to list it right now. I am sure there will be offers to take it off my hands free. I have at least 2 hours drill time and 3 $10 drills in it.... LOL Even with the press turned down she ate bits faster than I could swear.

Here is the begining pic. The only thing missing is 3 bolts and a few washers to shim the left caliper. Oh yea and the long Banjo bolt which I will include.

Not sure how much you should ask Tom but keep the shipping low and don't offer it to yamaha owners.

I have had good luck on rotors with Cobalt bits.....

Rockwell hardness of about 65 - 67 all the way thru unlike say titanium which is just coated on the bit

Weren't those Honda discs made out of some sort of non rust special hard alloy?

I can say they are hard. And I can say I have never seen one all rusted up.?

yo tommy - questions...

you say in your description that this kit will let you make the change in an afternoon, but what about hooking the brake line in to the hydraulic system? wouldn't you need an extra banjo bolt splitter or something? or will that new line bolt on to the existing system without mods? i didn't realize that the early systems left room for a second line...why would they have?

um...okay, that's only one question i guess really...

Banjo bolt is INCLUDED

That was at the bottom of the descript

And yes they are stacked on one long banjo bolt.

ya - after i typed that one up i figured maybe they all just stacked...

okay - that's a nice kit...are you going to keep grinding those out? i'm not sure i want to get into a bid off this goround, but it seems like a winter project fer sher...

oh, one more question ( i knew there was another) - what about MC capacity? don't most mugs doing this mod go up a size?

do you recommend one in particular or could you possibly harvest some to add to the kit?

Many do go up a size with the master. IT IS NOT NEEDED. I have run duals on a single SOHC MC without issues.

It maybe be spring before I do another one. But yes we will be making more of these. As time goes they will get better. Hoping to figure out how to get 4 piston calipers mounted on the O.E. legs for this rig.

cheapo, my only concern for you would be that ppl dont set the fork leg up properly, eg file the mounts flat, and such, then blame you for the kit not fittin....there is a bit of muckin around to get it just right, and if ppl dont want the fuss, they will blame you for the inconvenience.... just watchin your back

Thanks for the look out.

Actually there is no filing. Just a matter of washers installed. Get the wrong set and it will put your ass over the bars.

However it is easy to trouble shoot and shim when running in a parking lot. I have done many of these. They are not hard to do really.

I've always wonderd. When you are drilling a disc how do you get the hole alignment/pattern perfect so that the disc stays balanced?

Looks good Tom, just a quick note, that caliper has the old style bracket, and will only fit the K0-K2, not all CB750 models as you've said in your description.

For CBJ, although you can use the standard MC, with the smallish piston, the braking performance is pretty poor. An F2 or Goldwing MC is a much better option, and makes the fitting (and the additional unsprung weight) of the extra disc and caliper worthwhile. Cheers, Terry.

Thanks Terry, I guess I will have to toss in the extra caliper arm and mount. Thanks for the heads up. You sure saved me a pile of heartache.

Now that I think about it. I was using the late model F masters which are just a pinch taller and bigger, they look about the same but they are abit different.

Because I include both swing arms and mounts for them as well as the CB 500 speedo drive you should have no problems with setting it up. The difference between the cb 750 and 500 550 speedo drives is the width on the axle. This should work fine on KPH and MPH models.
