Rick's Motorsport Electrics on Ebay
« on: February 26, 2015, 06:25:26 AM »
So I see on ebay, there are regulator/rectifier units that are supposedly from Rick's Electrics but they're about $30 cheaper than buying directly from Rick's... Can anybody attest to whether the ones on ebay are legit? Either they're getting a heck of a wholesale deal from Rick's and selling for a small profit, or they're not actually from Rick's.

I have seen these lots of times too and it seems like there are different part numbers and pictures on the majority of the auctions? I have avoided them because of all these inconsistencies

I bought one last month through ebay from the seller rmstatorinc, and it is authentic.  I bought it for $76, and now I see they've raised the price to $90.  It's part 10-113; that's a Rick's #, and it came in a Rick's box.  I called Rick's to confirm...

That is good that you called. would have been nice if you asked how they could sell it cheaper than Rick or did you?

It's not uncommon for a manufacturer to charge more if you bought direct from them rather than their distributors in an effort to not undercut them. Sellers whether they're private sellers or business tend to not be willing to sell your product if you the manufacturer is  going to undercut their price. Whether or not that's the case with Rick's Electrics I don't know.
