Deleting posts

Here's a question - why are we not allowed to delete our own posts?

I post some pretty rock stupid ones from time to time - sure would save me some embarrassment.

I think I started a thread once that I wanted to delete but seem to remember I couldn't, can't remember if somebody else had posted already on it but think so.
It is very easy though to delete a response you made to another persons thread via Retro's instructions.

If I'm not mistaken, you can delete your own post, provided, it is not the first of a thread that has been replied to by others. The first, original post is the anchor for the thread, deleting it then would be problematic.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

That was the issue.  Even without a reply to the thread, you couldn't delete it.

I don't see why deleting a thread with no replies would be a problem, it's just a record in some database.

Oh well, I guess the cure is to keep my trap shut. :-X
