Nomination for Bike of the Month - April 2015
« on: March 01, 2015, 11:17:14 AM »
What?! April already?! Okay people, bring it!

This should be motivation for those in the snow working their winter projects -- Spring is right around the corner!

Scottly,

I also looked for a build thread to get more info on Mooshie's 550.  Is there a build thread (for those of us curious types)? Was it previously nominated for BOTM?

That's a good looking K2. Has it been previously nominated for BOTM?  Is that a 16" rear wheel?

I'll third it! Let's get Dave on board!

For the record, Dave's K2 would be eligible even if previously nominated. I just wanted to know.

I would have delayed nominating this bike to encourage him to finish the new build in time! ;) Now, he can linger and hold it off until next month  :'(

Im hoping Paolo (pabrera) finishes up his in time too.

Thanks for the nominations guys. Never really browsed this thread (but I'm hooked now) and such great bikes! Cal, no worries on putting off this new bike, as I just recently sold the nominated K2 to fund the new build, so I'm pretty sure I'm not eligible for this. I'm going to really try and finish the new K2 though within the next 1-2 weeks!

Wow, I can't believe Dash is nominated.  I am so thrilled.  Has a girls bike ever been nominated before?  ;)
I do not have a build thread that I have posted as it was built by Dustin Kott--more modified than built but I am happy to provide some of those photos for you all so you can see the progression.  Here is a link to my blog that shows Dash before and after the modification: https://backdoormotoadventures.wordpress.com/the-evolution-of-dash/

My last long trip on Dash was to Canada and in a few weeks we are off to circle the southwest a bit with Pimpzilla!

Dash in Canada at Glacier NP

To prove I really rode him  8)

Lake Hughes CA

Portland OR

Cambria CA (the nuns like him!)

Those are the shots I have on hand.  Not beauty ones that is for certain as they were all taken while on long trips...But Dash isn't shy so I can get some others if you want.
Thanks Scott and Scunny for the votes.

Unfortunately, Davez informed me that he sold his first 750 to fund the present build, so the bike is ineligible for BOTM under Rules 1 and 2:

1.   The SOHC4 motorcycle must be owned by the forum member (we’ll take your word for it)
2.   If the bike is no longer in the possession (however that may be) of the nominee after 1st & 2nd nomination and acceptance, it may continue to the voting thread.  If it is no longer in possession (however that may be) of the nominee before that, it will not continue to the voting thread.

Given what we have seen in the new build thread, Davez's new bike should be a solid contender for a future BOTM.

It looks like there are a couple of bikes poised to finish but not soon enough for this month's nomination deadline.  I nominate Devin Henrique/CognitoMoto's CB750 restomod.

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=131917.msg1473546#msg1473546

NOTE: I previously nominated this bike for last June's BOTM and it was a VERY close second place finish.  Because it was such a slim margin, I think Devin's bike warrants another go at BOTM.

This bike is a showcase for the many parts Devin develops for garage and professional builders to adapt modern technology to these older bikes.  It features the plug and play hub to use a GSXR front, his triple clamp, his oil tank and the FOX shocks he worked with FOX to bring to market for CB750/550 bikes.  Devin is always working to develop and expand his product offerings, and he's also just a solid, nice guy.

Congrats, Lisa, on the nomination. My better half was thrilled to hear there is a female BOTM candidate; I suspect she might join the forum to vote for you.  I like the fact that you ride the living bejeezus out of your bike Dash through Canada, Oregon, California and the Southwest.  That's awesome.

Especially since you do not have a build string, when it comes time for the voting (March 16-31), I would encourage you to do an extended recap of the build in a post on the voting thread.  I'm not sure if it's just me, but I think that members vote not only with the aesthetics of the bike but the story/journey of the build in mind.  So much trial, error, frustration and then (hopefully) triumph goes into these projects.  As you mentioned, "beauty" shots of the bike are always a plus, too.  I'm sure Dash will be willing to pose for you.

Thanks CB750. Problem is I will be on the road from 3/14 until 3/24 (riding Dash about 3,000+ miles and internet is not always available) so may run into some problems with posting but I will certainly try to get that all taken care of.

That's a pretty freakin' serious ride!  Be safe, have fun and take pics.
