the real question though... will there be school tomorrow?

Drumroll please.....No!  Lancaster Central Schools officially closed for Friday as of 10:30 this evening.  The kids are bouncing off the walls as I type...

No snow here in Vermont yet, but the rides to work
at 27-31F are getting rather chilly. Lucky I only have
to go 28 miles. ;D

It's a month to the day since our last dump here, and guess what, the ground is all white again today!

You all dont know weather till you live in ND. We will get pretty much everything except tsunamis. We get the tornados, we get hail(big stuff too), we get winds that go over 50mph at least a few times a year. Alaska has nothing on us when it comes to cold. -80 is GOING to happen every winter, generally for a few days at a time. Rain, not much sometimes, almost desert-like. Yet we can get flooded from rain. One good thing about living here, less TRAFFIC!!!

I think Canada is a conspiracy or at least a very bad joke! ;D

Ok dont take this the wrong way. The chick is pretty hot but women just get in the way of bikes! ;D They cover up paint and the engine! Course now if the woman is laying bare across the bike, well then that is different! ;)

Chicagoland weather has somewhat gotten back to normal, as we are in the mid to lower 50's (which i think is normal 4 this time of year)..

Rode my bike back to parents farm.  planed on riding back home early morning ( 3 hrs) just to wake up to 27 degrees.  She starts and away I go.  I found out the helmet I had used all summer leaks air like a screen door.  I keep a small roll of duct tape in the bag and I used it all just to survive. I think I froze my lower lip and my front crowns got so cold that I thought if I touched my tongue to them, my tongue would freeze fast like in the movie " The Christmas Story".  I was warm but man I really almost froze my HEAD off.  Thank God for duct tape.

Ps I have not been on for 9 months, where did the 1000+ new members come from?  I was glad to see Dusterdude and Eldar still posting because I don't know anyone else now.
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

I went to school in Rochester in the '70's, and the winter of '77, I wrecked my car because some lady backed out of her driveway because she couldn't see me because the snow was so deep! Up along Lake Ontario that year, houses had snow up to the eves!

I think Rochester was totally spared, but here in Buffalo we got wacked hard.  Very hard.  Lake-effect blizzards can be VERY defined and specific with narrow bands of snow.  Last week, I got 2 feet of heavy, wet snow dumped overnight on trees that still had their foliage.  Branches and entire trees, hell even the utility poles snapped like toothpicks all night, destroying the electrical infrastructure throughout the entire area.  I just got the power back on - it's been out since last Thursday.  I've been running a generator all week, powering up my house and 5 others at times (sump pumps, cycle the refrigerators, etc).  My parents basement flooded, so I take the generator over every day to pump out but by the next day its flooded again.  I run the chainsaw and clear the branches & trees all day, getting crap off roofs & cars.  Tonight, I have power, but still no sleep; I get to drop the wife off at the hospital (nurse~extra 3rd shift duty) at 2:00am, swing by my parents and refill the generator, crash for a couple of hours, swing back to refill again on my way to pick her up at 8:00am.  I have a water powered sump pump coming in for them this Wednesday (hopefully!!).  I bribed a friend that is coming in town from Lancaster, PA to buy one and bring it with - they're completly sold out locally.  Then I'll be able to stop the genset and focus on the cleanup.  There's no end in sight yet.  I've been going about 20 hours a day since it started, and I'm really, really tired.

I heard Buffalo was shut down by snow.   I can drive in snow.  People in Buffalo can drive under snow. knowing this  I said " this is a true sign of the end of the world".

I can drive through almost any snow, but I cannot drive through a horizontal forest of trees, branches and utility poles, complete with live wires all over.  I saw several high tension lines sizzling in the snow.  Very dangerous stuff.  Arma-freakin-geddon.

Commiserations from the north! I promise never to complain about our pathetic weather ever again. Keep smiling, riding season is only four months away.

No you are right that can only be done by Gov Arnold in the state of Calif on a HD.

After one of the last hurricanes, two "idiots" on crotch rockets took off in
the dark with their girlfriends on the back. They proceeded to run into a
downed tree.....four dead.

You wonder what these people were thinking.  :(

I now have a 15 KW planted in place generator for "the next one". That
should guarantee we never have another hurricane.  ;D

Keep it well maintained Jim. Murphys Law says that as soon as you let your guard down and the generator is not working flawlessly, there will be another 'big one'!
