How much torque to put on this screw?
« on: March 01, 2015, 01:55:50 PM »
I am replacing some seals on the shifter section of my 1971 cb500. When I was taking apart the shifter mech under the clutch, I noticed that this screw was loose. When I put it back on and tightened it it seemed to bind the cam plate abit. How much torque do you put on this screw? It is shown in the pick below, I pointing to it with a screwdriver.

And also for the 10mm bolt to the right of it that holds the arm. Thanks

I don't think you can overtighten that screw by hand with a screwdriver. Put some loctite on it as well.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

If you can't find a torque rating in the shop manual use the standard metric torque values mystic suggested. Anything else is a guess.
