Hi, everybody. So I'm the new owner of a 78 cb750a. It hasn't run in a few years but the engine turns over. This forum is a wealth of knowledge so I'm hoping to get multiple responses with answers and suggestions because all are welcome. I know I need an all new wiring harness.

My questions are:
1) Is it cheaper to buy a wire harness or create my own? I'm leaning on creating one since there are certain things I don't want on the bike.

2) Can anyone tell me the costs of either buying one or creating one?

3) Lastly, the wire harness already on the bike is in bad shape, cut in certain areas and decaying. If creating a wire harness is the path I choose to go down, does anyone have any ideas on how going about it WITHOUT the old one as a reference?

Go back to the main subjects at the top of the Hondamatic forums.  Under the heading Schematics.  There is a wiring chart diagram there.  You can order one through Ebay for about $10 bucks or search CB750A wiring diagram.  Just make sure it's for a 77/78 and not a '76.  77/78 are the same,  '76 is slightly different.

You can find used Wiring harnesses on Ebay as well.  I got a very clean harness for about $25-30.  You can find these for a decent price,  you may just have to keep checking over a couple weeks to see a good one cheap.  You can still order new ones as well (but pricey)
