Aparently the lid is glued on.  Remove the glue and refill.  Greenjeans did one recently.  Thread about opening up the "pot" by removing the glue

I believe the concensus was to use 50,000 weight silicon differential oil (for RC cars)    I got it at a hobby shop.
I can double-check on the weight when I get home tonight, but I think that was it.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

How much to top me off?  I'll send you the gauges.

I found that both of mine still had some sort of fluid in them.   Do your needles bounce around after things are cleaned ?
The thing that took me the longest was finding that impossibly small circlip after it shot across the room.

Some of my gauges were stored upside down, and the fluid leaked out.  Have a good collection that would benefit from a refill.  Gotta love those circlips.  Sounds like a fun time.  More fun if someone else is doing it.

Hate when that happens.  I literally cleaned my whole garage to find a valve retainer clip that shot into the abyss >:( ;D

Been there. Except I gave up and bought a few from CycleX which I had to have shipped to Canada... and of course I found the "lost" one after the new ones arrived.

Typical.

Same here except it was a retainer clip/keeper from a cb175 twin which is about half the size of one from a 750, my kid and I turned the garage upside down but we eventually found it.

Worse:  scouring the entire garage to find the clip that you lost, only to realize that you didn't actually loose it, or even worse that the part you were working on didn't use a clip in the first place  :-[

Thank you for the information.  This will be my first gauge restoration a little nervous will hate to screw up K0 gauges.  What do you seal the damper back up with?  Anything else I should know before I tackle this project?   I will post my project as soon as I get my parts....

I found my lost valve retainer after some 15 years and 3 relocations... It had buried itself not in the garage but in my workbench.

I'll bet Marcel has a great solution too and is willing to share his method. Also, he has a specific color of Testors Orange paint that he uses on the tips of the needles. I think it's supposed to be a good match to the stock color. He told me once but I wasn't smart enough to write it down.   ::)

does the speedometer have an oil damper?  I removed the cover and it doesn't look like there is a place for oil...Maybe I'm not seeing it and don't really want to take it all apart if I don't have to.  I also purchased BA9S LED bulbs today for fear of the old bulbs getting too hot and melting my new gauge faces.  Plus I hate when I am out ridding and the gauges start to condensate on the inside of the face which is why I usually ride with my light off.  I am hoping they look close to stock I got the warm white led"s

It's disappointing that there isn't someone here in the states that can rebuild gauges at a reasonable cost.

There is a guy on the Kaw Triples forum that does a complete restoration for a little over $100 a gauge.  I'll be sending him my Kaw gauges, they are not even close to being accurate.

I would, but get so frustrated when those little clips fly off into the abyss!  I maybe to tackle a refill as it seams cheap enough.  I noticed that they now sell reusable trim rings so you can change face plates at will.
