The frame hump...
« on: March 03, 2015, 02:08:27 AM »
Has anyone fitted a cafe type seat to a Honda CB without cutting the rear frame hump off as per the photo below? If so what seat did you use? Was it bought off the rack. E.G Biltwell Cafe Seat.

Yes.  There is no reason to cut that off.  Nearly any bum stop seat will fit over that frame brace and it is an important part of the rear frame's structural strength.  Sure you can weld in a hoop, but that is a lot of extra work for no performance improvement and most lose rear tire clearance in the process and are left with a hacked up, worthless frame.

You can leave the hump in place. There are seats out there that fit as a stock seat. Check this link, i hope it works. I'm attaching pics of the seat on my cb500. http://www.ebay.com/itm/291341547592?redirect=mobile

Cheers all for your input. I have been down in the shed tonight taking the cover off the spare seat that came with the bike.

I think I will have a go at shaving the foam down and making a cowl.
