Caught this thread a little late.  Cal gave me the same advice (he's still giggling)  and $$$$$ later I have a scremer of a 550....but to keep cost down, listen to Don!

One really nice thing about building a hot rod CB500/550 motor is that you can really see the change in performance a little displacement and cam can make, it transforms the bike and gives it enough "edge" to be really enjoyable. The best part is nobody will notice and you can play to your hearts content, try that on your superbike!!

Sorry. My 550 is fun but there's no comparison. My RC51 slays supersports.
