Which PD carbs are these on my 78550k *pic*
« on: March 09, 2015, 05:56:20 PM »
Hey guys just going through the carbs on my 78 cb550k  pretty sure the carbs on 78 550 were PD46C, which I think i have. I just wanted to clear up my confusion before I set my float height. So my confusion is, are they 46c's because the "c" comes after the 46 or are they "A's" because the "A" is in the engraved box? Here's a pic

Just a heads up, that one picture shows they have been worked on before, and probably not by the most meticulous of previous owners.  If there are multiple overt issues from just one picture, there are probably other issues lurking.

Some of them will be functional still (retapped bowl screws) etc., but just know they have been "fiddled" with, and you should really check them out thoroughly, I wouldn't be surprised to find some abuse that might not be fixable.  Good luck!

Oh I don't doubt you on that. Just opened up the bowls, they looked ok. But as you said some parts were missing.... Only had 2 washers and dried broken orings in the mixture screws. 1 slow jet was plugged on cylinder 1 which I'm thinking why I had a colder cylinder at idle. Jets/emulsion tube look fine. Floats were adjusted to 12.5 mm, the PO had them around 20mm.

Set the float height, new needle, cleaned, new intake mani orings and carb insulator boots. We will see how it goes after that.
