I just wanted to share this.
Looks like he would use it with Mauser barelled action to 0 the scope.

I stand corrected
Never was involved with bench shooting, but I hear you on the weight - my sighting jig is built from old trailer hitch with 20 pounds of gym weights to make it steady.
