The Goose takes flight!
« on: March 09, 2015, 03:10:37 PM »
The one thing that I could never make work on this bike was the horn.  It's a trivial part, but for some reason I just could never get it to honk.

Finally, after all my restorations, all my work, I rewired the horn and <honk>.  Only not that kind of honk, the horn sounds like a Canadian Goose - I'm dead serious - I pushed the button and I thought a flock of geese flew overhead or something. ???

I fiddled with it a bit more and more, figuring that it's just a bunch of rust and spiders, and webs in there keeping it from sounding off like a man - but it never did.  My horn sounds like a stinking goose!

Eigenvector - Interesting name.  It sounds like you have experience solving systems of differential equations  ;D

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaank

I think I need to upgrade my horn at some point. Plenty loud now, but why not go louder?!

:D

That's pretty darn close actually.

I'll have to record my next break in ride.  Although it is getting better and better the more I use it.  Spiders in the coils or something.  Certainly would never rely on it to save my life in traffic.  For now that's just a legal requirement, sooner or later I'll need to get a real horn.

There is an adjuster on those stock horns, not sure if it would help. Last summer I bought a 750 that had 2 of these mounted on the fairing, think he wanted to be heard ?   http://archives.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,12338.msg57960.html#msg57960
