1978 CB750K oiltank mount rubber
« on: March 09, 2015, 10:16:32 am »
So it would appear that the rubber is available (and the weird metal threaded parts). I want to repaint my oil tank...

So the question is; How to these come apart? I want to remove the rubber for paint

haha...those are a non-stock PO hack job!  ;D
just cut them out i guess....
rubber grommets for side cover mounting should not have those metal inserts.  How do your side covers mount?  ;D

the other three hard black plastic are to mount the tank to the frame. They should have smooth metal bushings inside.

Its a 78 Flybox...the oil tank side uses 3 screws to hold on the plastic cover

I think your link is for the MUCH nicer looking 69-76

Maier type side covers use the screw and nut method  ;), just  push the metal insert out of the rubber grommet then push the grommet out of the mounting hole  ;) cheers Mick.

I always thought it was odd I needed a screwdriver for the oil-tank sidecover but not the electrical side...I don't even use the oil sidecover...see you later weird metal inserts!
