A Cheesehead Checking In
« on: March 14, 2015, 06:18:49 PM »
Hello,
I'm checking in from northeast Wisconsin, on the western shores of Lake Michigan's Green Bay. I've been riding bikes for a number of years. My current stable includes a '06 Sportster 1200, '94 XT350, and a '93 GSX-R750. It will soon include a '76 CB750. Which is obviously why I have been lurking, and am now joining this forum.

The Honda is more than just a bike to me. It was the first bike I ever rode. While I was still in my mother's womb! I'm still waiting to get the entire story. My dad is a fairly private man. So what I know of the bike comes mostly from my mother. She says he bought it new in the winter of '76-'77. He convinced my reluctant mother to go for a ride. And I firmly believe that is what put the gasoline in my veins. I've been into cars, trucks, ATV, motorcycles, etc, for my entire life.

Anyway, I've told my dad for a decade now, that if he ever decided to retire the old Honda, to sell it to me. He called me a few weekends ago to say he bought a new bike, better suited for his aging body and desire for longer, more comfortable rides. And so he is giving me the old Honda. I don't really have room for four bikes, so I'll probably part with my Suzuki. I can't wait to get the Honda home, give it a once over, or two, and start putting miles on it. I'll share some photos here in the forum once I am eligible.

By the way, I have been lurking here for a while, this forum and related website has a plethora of information that really is invaluable to guys like me.

Welcome to the forum from an Oshkosh member. Pretty cool to get a bike that has been in the family for so many years. Looking forward to the pics...does she still have the OEM exhaust on it?

Thank you.

Unfortunately the exhaust is not stock. The bike is original except for the exhaust and a small oil pressure gauge added to the engine. The exhaust is what I believe people in the CB world call the chopper style. Kind of looks like side pipes on an old muscle car. The bike does sounds great with them, though.
