Are my cylinders glazed!?
« on: March 16, 2015, 07:38:26 PM »

Hi guys just had my motor rebuilt and had an oil leak. Pulled the head to try a new gasket and was wondering if my  cylinders are glazed now. Also before disassembly it was puffing white smoke  out the breather tube.

It's a bit hard to tell from a picture, truely glazed cylinders look like a mirror.  In my years as a mechanic I've only seen one engine that was truely glazed, it isn't as common as people make out.  They don't look too bad, put it back together and ride it.  ;D

They look fine to me from what I can tell. The white 'smoke' is condensation, normal especially if your motor was sitting a while before using the bike. It should diminish with use.

Thank a lot guys. I mainly pulled it apart for the annoying leak. 466cc kit so I hear its common. I'm going to try this time with 3 light coats of gasket spray and some prayers
