Painting Engine with VHT Paint, Curing questions
« on: March 20, 2015, 07:43:08 AM »
Hi All,

I have read many suggestions about using VHT engine paint when painting engine. I have also read that it is critical to cure this style of paint which is where my question lies. I understand that many people toss their painted parts in some sort of oven to cure, but what if I am planning on painting my engine as a complete assembly.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to do this? I dont think it would be appropriate to put the whole engine into an over, nor do i think it would fit so I am wondering how you guys that have used this paint have done this. Or any other recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

Baking is not essential but highly recommended. You can also cure the assembled engine in a foil lined box heated by a heat gun. Run a search on the forum.

Heated box is good idea. Both my engines I "cured" by the first few rides/heat cycles. Just need to be careful about spills beforehand.
