Rings and Gaskets Quality (350f)
« on: March 04, 2014, 08:32:26 AM »
In the process of rebuilding the head on my 350f and have some basic questions. Apologies if any of this is obvious, i'm fairly new to this.

My pistons seem to be in good shape so I plan on reusing them. Has anybody had any experience with the following piston rings on e-bay? The price makes me a little apprehensive ... For that price should I just get the piston rings or the piston/piston rings set the same seller offers for $85 (I think they're out at the moment). The price makes me think the quality won't be too great. Can these replacement pistons be used with my old pistons?

As far as the gaskets go, I used Vesrah gaskets on my KZ200 and didn't have any problem with them. I can't find any for the 350f. The only kit I found seem to be off-brand. Any reccommendations/advice?

Ordered the piston rings last night, the only other option were some NOS for over $300... I'll update when its back together. Also ordered up an Athena gasket kit, read some pretty favorable reviews on them.

I recommend using OEM seals for the oil orifice valves. The Athena ones are a totally different design (or were...). I haven't actually had Athena or OEM ones that didn't leak, but the OEM ones leaked less...
Maybe that silk thread trick, around them on both sides of the head gasket, might work...?
