Iowa Motor Service/Machine Shop Recs?
« on: March 16, 2015, 08:56:28 AM »
I've been looking for a shop to take a look at my cylinders and deck mating surfaces in the area of Iowa City/Cedar Rapids — and have been having a devil of a time. Most places I contact are focused on automobiles and say the motor (CB500) is too small for their tools.

Kind've of feel I'm just not searching for the right place or asking the wrong questions? I haven't bothered with the dealers — but maybe those are the place to look?

I know I can just get a flexhone. but I'm looking for some useful, professional opinion on the valve seat (first engine rebuild). Project thread is here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,145643.msg1657588.html

For posterity (and myself) — it seems like the go-to place in Eastern Iowa is Recreational Motorsports in Anamosa, IA (right by the National Motorcycle Museum << highly recommend). Link here: http://www.recmotor.com/
