Accelerator Pump
« on: November 07, 2016, 04:33:22 PM »
My bike bogs with quick throttle response from idle.  It has a MAC 4-1 and an airbox.  I replaced jets according to a long controversial thread several years ago.  I replaced the petcock and ensured my tank doesn't have junk in it.  Also rebuilt carbs and pump.  Bench tested and it squirts straight through.  Then install on bike and it works for a few minutes, then nothing.  What gives?  Why does it keep getting "clogged"?

Are the "ears" of the pump diaphragm free and clear?

Is the check valve o ring between the float bowl and pump the correct size? If not (ie too fat in section, too small an i.d.) it could restrict fuel flow when compressed.

Did your bike stop bogging after the cleaning and jet replacement?

Explain to us how you are testing/proving that it stops working.
If you've got fuel, and the parts are in good order, and everything is debris-free....it shouldnt  :-\

Did you install a new sock filter with the new petcock?  inline filter?
