Honda side cover emblem - clip art
« on: March 11, 2015, 08:27:05 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm making a new fender for the Interceptor and thought it'd be cool to paint a Honda logo on the front fender, in similar fashion to this Ducati Corse badge but I need to make paint masks.
Does anyone have the ability to render a line graphic that the decal guys can use to cut paint masks?

I can send that vector file to you.   Gimme a bit to find that file & PM me where to send it.

Not for nothing, FJ, but if you milled that Honda badge, I'd use it instead. Or is that just the example of the decal you want to emulate?

Cal,

Trying to emulate. I'm not sure where I found the picture but you can see that I changed it from 750 to 550 in Photoshop. Would love an actual badge though.  :)

I'd think milled copies (750 & 550) would fly off the shelf Cal.

If I made any, it would be a 1-off for you. I don't do "custom" production things.  ;)

You know how much I like one-off goodies Cal.  ;D

You guys know I make those right ?

It's a plastic enraving material with a super thin metallic face.  They are somewhat bendable with heat.   I used to have something in the "services offered"  area of the forum.   To be honest, haven't been over there in quite a while as the demand died down.    But, I'm sure I have some of the material left and can make those type of badges for pretty much any designation 500, 550, 650, 750, 836 etc.

Just out of curiousity.....Would doing something like that piss off Honda Motor Co.? I know they made a flap about people making re-pop tank striping kits. Personally I think stuff like this is awesome!! If Honda wants to discontinue making parts for our bikes they shouldn't bark when someone else does. Its like free advertising to them anyways.

A very special Thank You goes out to greenjeans for sending me the vector graphic to recreate his awesome emblem on the Cafe Interceptor front fender. Here's one of the paint masks and the fender that my painter will be working with. The clairity is second to none. Can't wait to see how it comes together.

Colour suggestions?

The fender will have a white background with red edges separated by gold pin stripping. There will be a blue strip down the centre of the fender that will start above the emblem. The emblem will likely have black (clear to carbon) as shown above. It's what is left in the yellow mask that I need help with.

I like the idea of having the emblem be plain carbon fiber.

That might be the way to go, but a little red for accents wouldn't hurt.
