Are my cylinders glazed!?

Hi guys just had my motor rebuilt and had an oil leak. Pulled the head to try a new gasket and was wondering if my cylinders are glazed now. Also before disassembly it was puffing white smoke out the breather tube.

It's a bit hard to tell from a picture, truely glazed cylinders look like a mirror. In my years as a mechanic I've only seen one engine that was truely glazed, it isn't as common as people make out. They don't look too bad, put it back together and ride it.

They look fine to me from what I can tell. The white 'smoke' is condensation, normal especially if your motor was sitting a while before using the bike. It should diminish with use.

That cylinder looks fine as cross hatching is still evident. There's a great thread in here, Branden's Leak Free Top End that's a very good read for just such a circumstance...

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Thank a lot guys. I mainly pulled it apart for the annoying leak. 466cc kit so I hear its common. I'm going to try this time with 3 light coats of gasket spray and some prayers
