Hi guys,
I do have a problem and am in need of some advice.
I recently bought an cb750 f1 with framenumber:cbf 1030187 and engine number: b750GE 1004455.
I found out that it has to be a 1976 cb750F1.
In the engine there were pistons with the number 410 which have marks on top of them from hitting the valves.
On the cylinderhead on the inletside there is the number 392 and i do think that the previous owner made a big mistake with fitting the 410 pistons with the dome that, as i found out, do belong in the F2 engines. These do need a bigger combustion chamber and will generate a very high compression.
The strange thing is that it actually did run when i bought the bike from the po.
What is the best thing i can do now?
I do think i have the following options:
I can take a look for a f2 head and do install that, but i do know that these often need new valve guides etc so that can be an expensive option.
I can take a look for new f1 392 pistons and rings and install these with the 392 heads. Also a costy option i think.
I can take a look for a bigbore kit and let the cylinder having a bore and istall a fresh set of bigger pistons and rings. I do see a lot of sets from cruzinimage and forseti on ebay and do not know which set i will need because i do not know if the sets for the K series will fit with the F1 head and what the compression etc will be.
Can you guys please give me any good advice?
Thx in advance,
Tim.
