Chromed handlebar clamp?
« on: May 25, 2005, 03:51:26 PM »
Hi gang;
I remember seeing on one of the parts sites a chromed handlebar clamp. It was a solid one piece instead of the 2 smaller black pieces. Any ideas where I can find on of these again? Thanks, DrMark

Thats what I was looking for. Something like this item.

Thanks, you said it was an EMGO product? I'll see if I can find one for my CB550.

What's that little red LED or switch on the left side of your headlight bucket?  Nice looking bike - let's see more pics of it.

Is that a "Shift Light?"

More likely a high-beam indicator given the lack of idiot-lights.

it is on a 500,I will see if i can find where I got it. The little red button on my headlight bucket is the starter switch. When I put the new low and extra wide bars on (sorta like a 60's triumph) I  put the coil power(on/off) , the headlight low/high/off, and the push starter button in the headlight bucket to clean up the bars(and eliminated the tunsignals and horn). The aftermarket tach only had one idiot light gel, so I made it the oil pressure light. Here are a few pics.......,

cheers...

Is the foot an optional extra (and where can I get a chrome plated one?)

Seriously, you have no speedo?  Illegal in UK (I think)

Very slick.  I know here in the beer swilling North, people get away with running those little bike-computer speedos.  Clip a sensor to a spoke, a sensor on the fender support and bob's your uncle.  Instant speedo (and odometer, clock etc. etc.).

Mikesxs.com has what you're looking for.  I've used two of them on my bikes.  Price is reasonable and you can remove thje gold eagle if you wish.

I am sending them an email asking for dimensions.  I'd pick one up myself - free shipping on $35 orders.  Wonder what else they have...

I found it!   I t was cycle re cycle, but the part  is from DRAG specialties " part #DS-290650 handelbar clamp fits 75-83 GL". It is working fine on my 71 cb500...  you should be able to get one anywhere  (if it is still made...of course)

http://www.wingthings-texas.com/gl1100.htm#DragSpecialties
lists that part, but says that it's discontinued.
they also list:

798-162 Upper Handlebar Clamp - $16.95 (picture)
Chromed upper handlebar clamp for '80-'83 models. Not for '83 Aspencade. Gold eagle emblem included. Sugg Retail $19.95

on that same page, which is supposed to be for the same years and models of goldwing, so presumably this should also fit.
(picture link goes to: http://www.wingthings-texas.com/UpperHandlebarClamp.jpg ).  Gold eagle emblem may be included, but it's
not shown as being integral on the picture, so no scraping emblems should be required.

The auction says the emblem is riveted on - did you want the emblem on the clamp?
