Quick 350f carb removal replacement question.
« on: March 22, 2015, 08:38:12 AM »
Taking my carbs off for the third time. When putting them back on should I put the airbox in first and squeeze the carbs in between or should I put the carbs on first and then squeeze the airbox on. What's easier. I've been doing the former and its a real struggle.

It's a struggle no matter what. Try the second way, it likely won't be fun removing or replacing the rubber part.

I was able to weasel the airbox out first this time so I'll put the airbox back last.

Also I think I'll make sure the problem I'm having (cylinder #2 not firing and carb bowl #4 overflowing) is solved before I put the airbox back on

I found it easier to leave the airbox in, and wiggle the carbs in and out.  The shape of the airbox kinda prevents it from coming out first iirc....

If it's like the 400, there is an aluminum tube in the neck of the airbox plenum. Slide that back into the airbox and pull the plenum into the airbox to make space. Fit the carbs, then reach in airbox, through plenum and push plenum tubes back onto carb intakes, finally, replace aluminum tube.

Makes it much easier.

For more fun, search the site for the "inner tube method"
