Don Vesco Rabid Transit Fairing
« on: March 20, 2015, 04:38:44 PM »
I have one at the back of my m/c storage and I'm going to sell it. It has a real "period" '70s pearl metalflake paint job with red pinstriping (...), somewhat spoiled by the fact that the previous owner gave it some mild road rash. This won't affect anything since there's no structural damage and I can guarantee you will be painting it. It is a COMPLETE Rabid Transit, so it has the quartz iodine headlamp mounted, has the lowers (one rashed a bit, poor fella) both glove box door covers which are a bit shrunken and in need of a soaking in Armorall, and a new Gustafsson windscreen which is undrilled. I also have the Rabid handlebar .The only piece missing is one of the side reflectors. The radio/instuments area of the fairing was never drilled so it's ready for your head temp, oil pressure or altitude gauge.

For those who may not know, I will tell you what Don Vesco told me at his last California Hot Rod Reunion appearance: "If you have the mounting bracket for your bike that fits a WIndjammer, it'll also fit a Rabid Transit."

Rather than go directly to Ebay I thought I's offer it out to SOHC first. I'll get pictures as soon as the snow stops and I can get back into the storage. Think about it - and let me know.

If I didn't already have a Vetter Phantom for my CB750 I'd put this one on it. It is certainly the second best choice. Better wind coverage than a Windjammer with better appearance, simple mounting and with respect, it's RARE. I have only seen two on the road in the last 30 yearss, and neither was on a CB750. ANyway, get primed, and I'll get some pictures when weather permits.

You should have no prob selling it.  I had a DV seat on my 750F, looked good.

For those that don't know, Don set many speed records on bikes and in cars.

Post that fairing in the for sale threads so 1 lucky guy can get it mounted up.

Dukie Duken Duke, let's all be gentlemen here, please.I have a foot of snow on the ground and if you read my post I said as soon as I can I'll get pictures. A bit of adult patience, please. Us Northerners have weather considerations and as much as I'd prefer this piece go to an SOHC4 adherent, I don't need GTFO from anyone....

I really don't think any offense was meant, its just a take on the typical" pics or it didn't happen" theme, common here on the forums..... ;)

It's like taking one piece of candy to school and deciding which friend can have it. Some of us want some but only one can have it. Once I mentioned someday I might sell a sandcast 750 and then decided I could afford to keep it. Just gets everyone excited, then the letdown. Sorry.
