Points wear evaluation
« on: March 20, 2015, 05:33:16 AM »
How do these look to y'all? I can't get the timing correct. The points seem to stay in contact much longer than the F mark. I would say they are in contact for 60 degrees rotation.

Hard to tell much from that pic. Show us the condition of the point contacts in the open position. Had that same issue and new points took care of it. But you would want to change out the condensers if they are original too.

Thanks for the input fellas. I ended up going with a new dyna S setup. I will keep these in the parts bin for another time.

The spark plugs fire at moment the points open and the coil powers up whilst they are closed, ready to discharge as they open.
