So I have round gaskets (should've bought the shaped ones) and I can't prevent them from slipping out of the groove and then getting pinched. Does anyone have a trick to temporarily securing them in the pentagonal float bowl groove so you can put the float bowls back on?

You can use a glue stick or even nail polish to hold them in place.

Trying that $0.25 tube of superglue gel from HF.

I've also used gasket maker in little dabs just like the superglue with success. The only problem I've had with superglue is that it makes the rubber hard and it lost it's ability to seal the bowl and I got a leak.

I was wondering about what superglue would do to the gasket. I used very little. The glue worked great - the gaskets are well seated and the bowls are on. Too cold to mount the carbs on the bike today though.

Did you buy the o rngs with proper size, or did you measure them?

I use a piece of Scotch tape on each side.  Once the bowl is seated in place, gently remove the tape, then snug down the bowl.

I went with a dab of heavy grease. The fuel will dissolve it and it causes no damage to the o-ring. The next guy to replace them will thank you for not using something more permanent.

  • Hey
Heavy grease or a little white glue in the corners and you're good to go.
