Yep, just did this. I went through this outfit: http://www.motorecyclenow.com/title-service.html
I'm in MD and went through VT to get a bike tagged without a title. It was pretty simple and just followed the steps on the ADVRider link.

Does this work on salvage titled bikes as a way to get an unbranded do over for a bike restored from ground up? I don't think a salvage titled be can be unbranded to anything better than "rebuilt". Wondering if when VT runs vin and sees "salvage" they automatically issue you a salvage title? Anyone have any idea?
I have been doing some research and found a very long and involved thread concerning the VT title registration. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?s=2300035c58b02d5780ebc1468065d3d9&t=655441I live in Illinois. But the bike is from another state. What kind of information Do you need?
thanks for going to the trouble to look fmctm and others. I suspect that the only way I'm going to find out if it works is to throw the dice on the VT fees and see what happens.
