Wouldn't surprise me if it was real. I knew a guy that had purchased a black powder rifle for the first time, he loaded it up, put a cap in, aimed and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened so he put another cap in, aims and pulls the trigger again and still nothing other than the cap going off so he too holds the gun so he can look straight down the barrel, I have no clue what he was expecting to see but no sooner did he pull the barrel away from his head and was holding it at his waist (fortunately not pointing at anyone) that's when the black powder gun went KABOOM!! He quickly realized how close he came to blowing his own head off and promptly sold the gun and wanted nothing to do with black powder guns from that point on. No it wasn't me but it is a true story.
